Snowmass Tourism's Fall 2026 closure roster lists twelve Base Village restaurants, and every one of them has a closing date. The roster also lists four retailers at Snowmass Center, and every one of them is marked open all season. For the next six weeks, the village that shows up in ski photos is mostly closed, and the one with the grocery store, the diner, and the hardware counter keeps its regular hours. Opening day at Snowmass is Thursday, November 26, 2026, which is also Thanksgiving. The weeks before it run on two calendars, and knowing which business follows which one is how you get through November.
Twelve kitchens at the base, and each one has a closing date
Most of the slopeside closures are already done. Aurum Food & Wine and Montevino closed October 3, Sundae Ice Cream closed October 4, and Kenichi Snowmass closed October 10. Slope & Hatch at The Collective closed back on September 28, and JUS Snowmass and GG's Market closed September 29. At the Mall, Fuel Cafe, Grub Thai, New Belgium Ranger Station, The Stew Pot, and Venga Venga had all closed by October 3.
As of today, October 12, here's what's still left to close on the roster:
- October 13: Snowmass Trading Company
- October 15: Capranea
- October 18: The Lounge at Limelight
- October 19: Rock Island Oyster Bar & Grill
- October 24: Gorsuch Ski Cafe
- October 25: Après Deck, which replaced Stark's Alpine Grill and Viewline
- November 1: Cafe V, Lift Line, and Toro at the Viceroy
- November 2 through 9: Alux Spalon takes a one-week break
The three Viceroy restaurants are the last places at the base to close, and they hold out until November 1. After that, no Base Village restaurant on the roster lists itself as open until JUS Snowmass returns sometime in mid-November, and the first firm reopening date at the base is Kenichi's on November 20. Snowmass Tourism adds that off-season businesses often close Mondays and Tuesdays and that hours change as reopening dates get close, so call ahead even when a place shows as open.
Sixteen Kearns Road
In the off-season, Snowmass Center is where the village's everyday needs get met. The roster marks all four of its retailers open all season:
- Clark's Groceries
- Ajax Supply
- Sundance Liquor & Gifts
- The Snowmass Dispensary
Two of the restaurants that stay open all fall are in the same building. The Daly Diner is at 16 Kearns Road, next to Sundance and Taster's. Taster's is at Suite 110A in that building. Both appear on the roster as open all season. Put the roster's year-round entries together and the Center accounts for a large share of them: six businesses at one address.
That address is also slated for change. In January 2025, Town Council approved Eastwood Snowmass Investors' revised design for the Center, as The Aspen Times reported. The design adds 24% to the building's footprint, expands Clark's Market and the post office, and adds public gathering space. The approval also cleared the way for the Town to buy more than three acres behind the Center for up to 130 workforce housing units. That same month, Aspen Public Radio reported that the owner's representatives said the Diner and Taster's might return to the redeveloped Center, and they described possible lease extensions. We haven't found a published construction start date. For this fall, the Center's businesses are where they've always been.
The Mall keeps a short list of exceptions
On the roster, two Mall-area bars are listed as open through the fall season. One is Zane's Tavern, on the Mall's upper level at 10 Village Square. Its tourism listing calls it a locals' favorite and advertises après specials. The other is The Tavern Kitchen & Bar at 67 Elbert Lane. Its listing describes live music, trivia, comedy, brunch, and happy hour, but it doesn't say which of those run in the fall.
Daly Bottle & Grain Fine Food is listed open all season. Its shop is on the Mall's main level, next door to Fuel Cafe, which closed September 30. Also open all season are Challenge Aspen and Guapodog, plus Christy Sports on reduced hours. Over in Base Village, Eye Pieces of Snowmass stays open, possibly with shorter hours, and so does TAC Fitness at One Snowmass East.
Several rows on the roster are blank. Il Poggio, Heather's at the Stonebridge Inn, Snacfood, and Snowmass Lanes, home of 105 Pizza + Bowl, have no closing or reopening dates listed. A blank row means no date was submitted. It doesn't confirm the place is open, so check those directly.
What fills the weeks in between
Most of the fall's events are indoors, small, and on a fixed schedule.
Anderson Ranch Arts Center has its gallery exhibition, "The Weight of Light," up through October 30. From October through May, the campus, gallery, and ArtWorks Store are open weekdays from 1 to 5 p.m. The café is closed to the public for that whole stretch. Spooktacular Creepy Crafts, the Ranch's Halloween event, is on October 30, the last day of the exhibition.
Snowmass Chapel holds a Fall Potluck Lunch & Learn on October 25 from 11:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. In November, it hosts a Christmas Child Packing Party on the 15th, Hanging of the Greens on the 22nd, and Advent Wreath Making on the 29th.
Snowmass Recreation Center has indoor pickleball, basketball open play, futsal, volleyball, and youth soccer on its October gym calendar. Fitness classes run on the separate parks and recreation calendar. The November calendar keeps pickleball, volleyball, and open basketball going and adds youth basketball practices.
For walks, the Town of Snowmass Village reports that Melton Ranch Trail is fully open again now that the utility work is finished. It's a paved 0.8-mile path from Martingale Lane and Sinclair Road to Village Center and the Brush Creek Trail. The bigger trail network gets one fixed closure this fall. Pitkin County has scheduled the Sky Mountain Park fourth rifle season elk hunt for November 18 through 22, and the park will be closed to most public access during that time. The county's 2026 notice doesn't list individual trails.
The hunt ends two days after the first dated restaurant reopenings.
The base comes back in stages
November 26 is the ski date. Base Village and the Mall don't wait for it. The roster shows businesses reopening over eight days:
- November 20: Kenichi Snowmass, Grub Thai, and Smash & Dash Burger
- November 21: Gorsuch Ski Cafe
- November 23: Cafe V, Lift Line, and Toro at the Viceroy, plus Après Deck, One Vibe, Snowmass Trading Company, and Snowmass T-Shirt Co
- November 25: The Lounge at Limelight and Four Mountain Sports' Mall Shop and Pavilion
- November 26: Aurum Food & Wine, Base Camp Bar and Grille, Crepe Therapy Cafe, New Belgium Ranger Station, The Stew Pot, Snowmass Sports, Incline Sports, and the Four Mountain Sports rental, retail, and kids shops in Base Village
- November 27: Venga Venga and Sunglass Panache
Rock Island Oyster Bar & Grill and JUS Snowmass are only listed as reopening "mid-November," so either could come back before or after the November 20 group. At The Collective, the Game Lounge and Selfie Den have been closed since September 28 and reopen November 27. That day the lounge runs from 2 to 8 p.m. and the ice rink runs daily from 1 to 9 p.m.
Opening day also brings a schedule change at the Center. Taster's is open all season, but the roster notes it closes on Thanksgiving Day, so it shuts for the day the lifts start turning.
A few places reopen after the lifts do. The Edge at the Timberline returns December 1, Ro + Fern December 7, and Pinecreek Cookhouse December 10. The Aspen Times' winter preview reports that the Stonebridge Inn plans to reopen in December after a $15.7 million renovation. Up on the mountain, Ullrhof reopens this winter after a full rebuild as Aspen Snowmass's first fully electric restaurant, with seating for more than 600.
If you run a business in Snowmass or lease space here, the closing and reopening dates on that roster affect your numbers as much as your rent does. The C&E Group team can walk you through how a space at the base and a space on Kearns Road compare across the off-season. Connect with the C&E Team.
